HARMAN RED 125 Redscale 35mm Colour Negative Film

HARMAN RED 125 is a creative ISO 125 redscale 35mm colour negative film designed for photographers who want bold, unconventional colour rather than natural reproduction.

Redscale film is loaded so that light passes through the film base before reaching the colour-sensitive layers. This changes the normal colour response and produces a distinctive palette dominated by reds, oranges, amber and warm yellow tones. The result can vary noticeably depending on exposure, lighting and subject matter, making every roll ideal for experimentation.

HARMAN RED 125 is particularly suited to street photography, portraits, architecture, landscapes, fashion and experimental analogue photography. It uses standard C-41 colour negative processing, so despite its unusual appearance, development is straightforward.

Questions about this product

Why Choose HARMAN RED 125?

Choose HARMAN RED 125 when you want your film choice to dramatically influence the final image. Unlike conventional colour negative film, which aims for relatively natural colours, redscale film deliberately transforms the scene. Blue skies, greenery, skin tones and neutral surfaces can take on completely different warm hues, giving photographs a surreal and cinematic appearance. Its ISO 125 rating makes it particularly suitable for daylight and other well-lit situations, where you have enough light to work comfortably while exploring the film's distinctive colour palette. It is also a great choice for photographers who enjoy analogue experimentation, because changes in exposure can alter the balance between deep reds, oranges and lighter golden tones.

Shooting Tips for HARMAN RED 125

Start at ISO 125. This is the recommended starting point for experiencing the film's intended redscale character. Use plenty of light. Because light passes through the film base before reaching the emulsion, good exposure is especially important. Avoid heavy underexposure. Insufficient exposure can produce very dark shadows and extremely strong red tones. Experiment with extra exposure. Giving the film more light can often produce brighter oranges, yellows and softer red tones. Try different lighting conditions. Direct sun, overcast daylight, window light and artificial light can all produce noticeably different colour results. Photograph colourful subjects. Blue skies, green plants, coloured clothing, painted buildings and neon signs can create especially interesting transformations. Try portraits carefully. Redscale film does not reproduce natural skin tones, so use it when you specifically want an experimental effect. Use a tripod in weaker light. ISO 125 may require slower shutter speeds in shade, interiors or towards evening. Bracket important photographs. Taking the same scene at slightly different exposures is a useful way to discover how the film responds. Do not expect conventional colour. The unpredictability and strong warm shifts are part of the attraction of redscale photography. Scan with a neutral starting point. When scanning, avoid automatically correcting all of the red and orange colour cast, as this can remove the film's intended character. Store unused film cool and dry. Keep it away from excessive heat, moisture and direct sunlight. Process using C-41. HARMAN RED 125 uses standard colour negative processing.
