Terms & Conditions

The terms that apply when you buy from Camera Shop London, online or in our Whitechapel shop. Please read them before you order.

1. About us

Camera Shop London, also known as Stuart Cameras, is a camera shop and photo lab at 221 Whitechapel Road, London E1 1DE. In these terms “we”, “us” and “our” mean Camera Shop London, and “you” means the customer. You can reach us through our contact page.

These terms apply to everything you buy from us on this website: products, vintage cameras, personalised items and services. If you are buying as a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights under UK consumer law.

2. Ordering and payment

  • When you place an order you pay online by card (through our payment provider, Dojo) or with PayPal. Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies.
  • Your order is confirmed once your payment has gone through. If the payment doesn’t complete within 30 minutes, the order is cancelled and nothing is charged.
  • If an item turns out to be out of stock after you have paid, we will cancel that order and refund you in full.
  • We take care to show the right prices and descriptions. If we make an obvious mistake, we will contact you before going ahead.

3. Cancelling an order

  • You can cancel an order for products from your account within 30 minutes of placing it, as long as it hasn’t been sent.
  • You can cancel a service, such as film developing, until we start work on it.
  • Appointments can be cancelled online up to their start time.
  • After these points you still have the right to cancel goods you’ve received, explained under Returns and refunds below.

4. Click & collect

Click & collect is free. We will let you know when your order is ready, and we keep it safe until you come in. Please bring your order number. Our pickup address and hours are on the Delivery & Returns page.

5. Delivery

  • We deliver within the UK only, by Royal Mail.
  • Delivery prices, any free delivery offer and expected delivery times are shown on the Delivery & Returns page and at checkout. You pay one delivery price per order.
  • Delivery times are estimates. If your order is late or doesn’t arrive, please contact us.

6. Returns and refunds

  • Changed your mind: you can cancel goods within 14 days of receiving them. You then have a further 14 days to send them back. Items should be unused and in their original packaging, and you pay the return postage.
  • Faulty or not as described: you can reject goods that are faulty, not as described or not what you ordered within 30 days of receiving them, and we will refund the cost of sending them back.
  • You can start a return from your account. We may ask for photos of the item.
  • Refunds go back to the payment method you used. If you return a whole order, we also refund the standard delivery charge.
  • Some items can’t be returned for a change of mind: gift cards, opened memory cards and software, personalised and made-to-order items, and services once they have been carried out. This does not affect your rights if something is faulty.

7. Personalised and made-to-order items

Mugs, T-shirts and other personalised gifts are made to your design, so they can’t be returned unless they are faulty or not what you ordered. Please check your design, spelling and photos carefully before you order.

Our team checks every design before it is printed. If there is a problem with a design, we will ask you for a new one rather than print it.

8. Vintage cameras

Every vintage camera is described individually and given a condition grade:

  • Excellent: very light signs of previous use.
  • Very Good: some visible cosmetic marks consistent with normal use.
  • Good: more noticeable cosmetic wear, but fully working unless otherwise stated.

Our cameras are cleaned and, where the listing says so, tested before they are listed.

The listing shows the warranty that comes with each camera. Our warranty (28 days unless the listing says otherwise) covers functional faults from the day you receive the camera. A camera listed as sold as seen has no warranty from us, but your legal rights are not affected.

New cameras come with the manufacturer’s warranty.

9. Services

Film developing

Turnaround times and prices are shown when you order. Your scans are delivered digitally by download link. When you order, you choose what happens to your negatives: collect them from the shop, have them posted back, or let us dispose of them securely.

Video transfer

Your footage comes back on the format you choose when you order. You also choose what happens to your tapes afterwards: collect them, have them posted back, or let us dispose of them.

Passport photos

Passport and ID photos are ordered online. We check them against the official photo rules before they are printed or sent.

Camera repairs

  • Camera repairs are by appointment only.
  • A £25 initial assessment is payable when your repair is booked in. It is deducted from the final bill if you go ahead.
  • We aim to give you an estimate within about a week, and we don’t start any repair work until you approve it.
  • Whether a repair is possible can depend on parts being available.
  • Repair work we carry out is guaranteed for 6 months.

10. Your photos and uploads

  • Photos you upload for prints, gifts or other orders are kept private. Only you and our team can see them, and we use them only to make your order.
  • Only upload photos you have the right to use.
  • Photos uploaded but not used in an order are deleted automatically.
  • Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information.

11. Your account

You can order as a guest or create an account to track orders, start returns and leave reviews. Please keep your sign-in details private and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.

12. Reviews

  • You can review a product once your order has been delivered or collected, with one review per product. You can edit or remove your review at any time.
  • Reviews show your first name and initial.
  • Please keep reviews honest and relevant. We may hide or remove reviews that are offensive, unlawful or not about the product.

13. Our liability

  • We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
  • We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses.
  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your order are the ones shown on this page when you placed it.

15. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
