Kodak Eastman GOLD 200 35mm Colour Negative Film

Kodak Eastman GOLD 200 is a classic ISO 200 daylight-balanced colour negative film designed for photographers who want warm, vibrant colours, fine grain and excellent sharpness from an easy-to-use everyday film.

Its ISO 200 sensitivity is particularly well suited to sunny days, bright overcast conditions and photography with electronic flash. GOLD 200 is known for its warm colour reproduction and pleasing saturation, giving photographs the familiar Kodak look that works especially well for holidays, family photography, portraits, landscapes and everyday moments.

The film also offers broad exposure latitude, making it relatively forgiving when exposure is not absolutely perfect. Its fine grain and strong detail make well-exposed negatives suitable for quality prints, enlargements and high-resolution scanning.

Kodak Eastman GOLD 200 uses standard C-41 colour negative processing.

Questions about this product

Why Choose Kodak Eastman GOLD 200?

Choose Kodak Eastman GOLD 200 if you want an affordable, reliable colour film with a recognisable warm Kodak character. One of GOLD 200's biggest strengths is the combination of fine grain and colourful results. ISO 200 is slow enough to retain excellent detail while still being practical for handheld photography outdoors. It is particularly attractive for photographers who enjoy warm-looking photographs. Golden-hour sunlight, summer holidays, beaches, colourful streets and family occasions all suit the film very well. GOLD 200 is also forgiving. Its broad exposure latitude provides some protection against exposure errors, making it a good choice for beginners, older cameras and compact point-and-shoot cameras. For photographers who scan their negatives, its combination of fine grain, sharpness and strong colour also makes it suitable for high-resolution digital files.

Best Use For

Travel & Holidays: Excellent for beaches, city breaks, sightseeing and colourful destinations in good daylight. Everyday Photography: A dependable film for family occasions, days out, celebrations and spontaneous photographs. Portrait Photography: Warm colour reproduction works particularly well for casual outdoor portraits and environmental portraits. Street Photography: Great for daytime streets, shops, markets, signs and colourful urban environments. Landscape Photography: Saturated colour, fine grain and good sharpness suit countryside, coastal and city landscapes. Golden Hour: Warm evening sunlight complements the characteristic colour palette of GOLD 200 particularly well. Family Photography: A classic choice for holidays, birthdays, outdoor gatherings and everyday memories. Flash Photography: GOLD 200 can also be used effectively with electronic flash when available light is insufficient.

Shooting Tips for Kodak Eastman GOLD 200

Start at ISO 200. Shooting at the rated speed is the best starting point for consistent colour and exposure. Give it plenty of daylight. GOLD 200 performs particularly well outdoors in sunshine or bright overcast conditions. Avoid unnecessary underexposure. Although the film has broad exposure latitude, sufficient exposure normally produces cleaner shadows and richer colour. Take advantage of its exposure latitude. Kodak specifies broad latitude, giving photographers useful flexibility when lighting conditions change. Try it during golden hour. Warm late-afternoon and early-evening sunlight can produce especially attractive results with GOLD 200. Use smaller apertures in bright light. ISO 200 works nicely with apertures such as f/8 or f/11 for landscapes and architecture when plenty of daylight is available. Use flash indoors when needed. In darker interiors, flash can help maintain sharper photographs without requiring very slow shutter speeds. Use a tripod as the light falls. Because GOLD is ISO 200, evening and night photography may require slower shutter speeds than ISO 400 or 800 films. Scan at medium or high resolution. Fine grain and good sharpness mean well-exposed negatives can produce detailed digital scans and prints. Develop using C-41. Standard colour negative processing is required.

Kodak Eastman GOLD 200 or Regular GOLD 200 – Which Should You Choose?

For normal photography, Kodak Eastman GOLD 200 and the familiar Kodak GOLD 200 are intended to provide the same core GOLD 200 photographic experience. Both are ISO 200 daylight-balanced C-41 colour negative films offering warm saturated colours, fine grain, high sharpness and broad exposure latitude. The important difference customers are likely to notice is the packaging and distribution branding, rather than a completely different type of film. Eastman Kodak has returned to selling certain still-film products directly through distributors, which is why newer GOLD 200 rolls may appear in refreshed Eastman Kodak packaging. For a customer who already enjoys regular Kodak GOLD 200, the Eastman-branded version is therefore a very natural choice. There is no need to select one because you expect a dramatically different photographic look. If you want warm colours, classic Kodak character, fine grain and an easy-to-use ISO 200 film for daylight photography, Kodak Eastman GOLD 200 is an excellent all-round choice.
