Kodak Professional Ektar 100 35mm Colour Negative Film

Kodak Professional Ektar 100 is a premium ISO 100 colour negative film designed for photographers who want exceptionally fine grain, outstanding sharpness and rich, highly saturated colour. Its lower ISO speed performs best in bright daylight or controlled lighting, where it can produce crisp detail, strong contrast and vibrant colour reproduction.

Ektar 100 is particularly well suited to landscape, travel, architecture, nature, automotive and product photography, where bold colours and fine detail are important. Blues, greens and reds can appear especially vivid, giving images a clean, punchy and polished look.

Processed using the standard C-41 colour negative process, Kodak Ektar 100 is an excellent choice for photographers who want maximum detail from 35mm film and a more vibrant colour palette than the softer, portrait-focused look of the Portra range.

Questions about this product

Why Choose Kodak Professional Ektar 100?

Kodak Ektar 100 is an excellent choice when your priority is fine detail, sharpness and vibrant colour. Its ISO 100 speed allows the film to produce very fine grain, making it especially attractive for photographers who intend to make larger prints or high-resolution scans. Landscapes, colourful buildings, classic cars, flowers and travel scenes can all benefit from Ektar’s strong colour reproduction. Compared with Kodak Portra, Ektar generally produces a more saturated and contrast-rich appearance. This makes it a particularly strong choice for subjects where you want colours to stand out rather than appear soft or muted. It is also ideal for photographers who want the classic characteristics of colour negative film while retaining excellent detail and the convenience of standard C-41 processing.

Best Use For

Landscape Photography: One of the strongest uses for Ektar 100. Rich greens, blues and other natural colours can produce striking outdoor photographs. Travel Photography: Excellent for colourful streets, markets, architecture, coastlines and holiday destinations in good daylight. Architecture: Fine grain and strong sharpness help capture detailed buildings, textures and structural features. Nature & Flowers: Particularly effective when photographing colourful plants, gardens and natural landscapes. Automotive Photography: Excellent for classic cars and colourful vehicles where paintwork and fine detail are important. Product Photography: Strong colour and detail make it useful for carefully lit products, still-life photography and creative commercial work. City & Street Photography: Performs beautifully on bright days when you want crisp detail and vivid urban colours. High-Resolution Scanning & Enlargements: Fine grain makes Ektar 100 particularly suitable when you intend to scan at high resolution or produce larger prints.

Shooting Tips for Kodak Ektar 100

Shoot at ISO 100. Starting at the rated speed generally provides the best balance of colour, contrast and detail. Use it in good light. Ektar 100 performs particularly well in bright daylight, making sunny outdoor conditions ideal. Avoid significant underexposure. Underexposure can result in darker shadows and less attractive colour, so accurate metering is important. Meter carefully in high-contrast scenes. Protect important shadow detail while taking advantage of the film’s ability to retain highlight information. Use a tripod when light levels fall. Because Ektar is ISO 100, slower shutter speeds may be needed in overcast conditions, shade or around sunset. Great for smaller apertures. In bright daylight, ISO 100 makes it easier to use apertures such as f/8 or f/11 when you want greater depth of field for landscapes and architecture. Be mindful with portraits. Ektar can certainly photograph people, but its stronger saturation can make reds and skin tones more pronounced than films such as Portra 160 or Portra 400. Careful exposure and lighting are recommended. Use professional C-41 processing and high-resolution scanning. Good processing and scanning help bring out the fine detail, colour and sharpness that make Ektar 100 particularly attractive.
