Kodak Professional Portra 800 35mm Colour Negative Film
Kodak Professional Portra 800 is a high-speed ISO 800 colour negative film designed for photographers who need excellent colour, natural skin tones and dependable performance when light levels begin to fall. Its higher sensitivity makes it particularly useful for indoor photography, evening shoots, events, weddings, street photography and available-light portraits, where slower films may require a flash or tripod.
Despite its ISO 800 speed, Portra 800 delivers pleasingly controlled grain, strong detail and the smooth tonal reproduction associated with the Portra range. It is daylight balanced and offers useful exposure latitude, making it a flexible choice for photographers working in unpredictable or rapidly changing lighting conditions.
Portra 800 is processed using the standard C-41 colour negative process and is an excellent premium film for both professional photographers and experienced film enthusiasts.

Questions about this product
Why Choose Kodak Professional Portra 160?
Choose Kodak Portra 800 when you want the distinctive natural colour and portrait-friendly rendering of the Portra family but need considerably more sensitivity than Portra 160 or Portra 400. The ISO 800 speed is especially valuable when photographing indoors without flash, during evening light, at events or when subjects are moving. The extra film speed allows you to use faster shutter speeds, helping reduce camera shake and motion blur while still working with available light. Portra 800 is also an excellent choice for photographers who enjoy atmospheric photography. Evening streets, restaurants, concerts, celebrations and naturally lit interiors can all benefit from its combination of high sensitivity and refined colour reproduction.
Best Used For?
Portraits & People: Excellent skin-tone reproduction makes Portra 800 particularly well suited to portraits in natural or available light. Weddings & Events: Ideal when moving between bright outdoor conditions, dim interiors and evening receptions without constantly changing film. Low-Light Photography: ISO 800 provides extra flexibility when photographing indoors or as daylight begins to fade. Street Photography: Useful for handheld shooting during late afternoons, evenings and changing urban light. Travel Photography: A versatile option when you expect to photograph from daylight through to night without changing film. Concerts & Live Events: The higher sensitivity can help achieve faster shutter speeds in lower available light where flash may not be appropriate. Lifestyle & Documentary Photography: Well suited to candid subjects and real-life environments where you cannot control the lighting.
Shooting Tips for Kodak Portra 160?
Start at ISO 800. Shooting at the rated speed provides a reliable balance between sensitivity, colour and grain. Give it enough light. Like most colour negative films, Portra 800 generally produces cleaner shadows and better colour when you avoid significant underexposure. Use the speed to your advantage. In lower light, ISO 800 allows faster shutter speeds than Portra 400 or Portra 160, which can be particularly useful for moving subjects. Try it for evening portraits. Its high sensitivity is excellent for photographing people during golden hour, blue hour or in softly illuminated indoor locations. Meter carefully in very dark scenes. Bright signs, windows or stage lighting can confuse automatic meters, so meter for the important subject whenever possible. Consider slight overexposure for portraits. When lighting allows, modest additional exposure can give smooth tonal transitions and attractive skin tones. Keep expectations realistic in extremely dark conditions. ISO 800 is fast for colour film, but very low-light scenes may still require a wide aperture, slower shutter speed or additional lighting. Process using C-41. Standard professional C-41 processing and high-resolution scanning will help you get the best detail and colour from your negatives.
