How Our Camera Repair Service Works

  1. 1. Bring Your Equipment to Camera Shop London

Book an appointment, then bring your camera, lens or camcorder to our shop.

Please bring any accessories that may be relevant to the fault, such as:

    • Battery
    • Charger
    • Lens
    • Memory card
    • Power supply

Tell us as much as possible about the problem and when it occurs.

  2. 2. Initial Assessment – £25

A £25 initial assessment fee is payable when the repair is booked in.

Your equipment will then be inspected and the fault assessed.

We normally aim to provide a repair estimate within approximately one week.

  3. 3. We Contact You With the Estimate

Once the equipment has been assessed, we will contact you with the estimated repair cost.

No repair work will proceed until you approve the estimate.

If you decide to proceed with the repair, the £25 assessment payment is deducted from the final repair bill.

  4. 4. Repair Begins

Once you approve the estimate, the repair can proceed.

Our normal repair turnaround is up to 15 working days after approval.

Some repairs may take longer if:

    • Replacement parts need to be ordered
    • Parts are difficult to source
    • The equipment requires additional testing
    • Further faults are discovered during repair

If there is a significant change to the repair, we will contact you.

  5. 5. Testing & Collection

Once the repair has been completed, the equipment is tested and we will contact you when it is ready.

You can then collect your equipment from Camera Shop London in Whitechapel.

6-Month Repair Guarantee

Repair work carried out through our service comes with a 6-month guarantee on the repair work completed.

This gives you additional reassurance when having your photographic equipment repaired through Camera Shop London.

Why Repair Your Camera?

Older cameras are often worth repairing, particularly when they are:

  • Cameras you already enjoy using
  • Classic 35mm film cameras
  • Cameras with sentimental value
  • Higher-quality cameras and lenses
  • Equipment that would be expensive to replace

Repairing existing equipment can also be a more sustainable choice than immediately replacing it.

Don’t Replace It Until You’ve Asked Whether It Can Be Repaired.

Before Bringing Your Camera In

To help us identify the fault, please tell us:

What is happening?
For example, does the camera fail to switch on, does the shutter not fire, or does the film not advance?
When did the problem start?
Let us know whether the fault appeared suddenly or gradually.
Has the camera been dropped or exposed to water?
This can help with diagnosis.
Which battery are you using?
If possible, bring the battery with the camera.
Does the problem happen all the time?
Intermittent faults can be more difficult to diagnose, so the more information you provide, the better.
