Kodak Professional Portra 800 120 Colour Negative Film
Kodak Professional Portra 800 is a premium ISO 800 daylight-balanced colour negative film designed for medium-format photographers who need extra speed while still wanting natural skin tones, refined colour and excellent detail.
In 120 format, Portra 800 combines the larger negative area of medium format with the flexibility of a fast ISO 800 emulsion. This makes it particularly useful for portraits, weddings, events, travel, documentary photography and available-light shooting, especially when light levels begin to fall.
Portra 800 is known for its smooth tonal reproduction, flattering skin tones and relatively fine grain for a high-speed colour film. It performs especially well when photographers need faster shutter speeds or want to continue shooting handheld in lower light.
It uses standard C-41 colour negative processing.

Questions about this product
Why Choose Kodak Professional Portra 800 120 Film?
Choose Kodak Portra 800 in 120 format when you want professional medium-format image quality but need considerably more sensitivity than Portra 160 or Portra 400. Its ISO 800 speed is particularly valuable in lower light, indoor locations, evening photography and fast-moving situations. The extra sensitivity allows you to use faster shutter speeds, helping reduce camera shake and subject movement. For portrait photographers, Portra 800 is especially attractive because it combines high speed with the natural skin tones and smooth colour reproduction associated with the Portra range. The larger 120 negative also helps deliver excellent detail and smoother tonal transitions, making it an excellent choice when you want both low-light flexibility and high-quality scans or prints.
Shooting Tips for Kodak Portra 800 120 Film
Start at ISO 800. Box speed is the best starting point for predictable colour and exposure. Give it enough light. Even though it is a fast film, avoiding heavy underexposure will generally produce cleaner shadows and better colour. Use the extra speed for faster shutter speeds. ISO 800 is particularly useful with medium-format cameras, which can be more difficult to hand-hold at slow shutter speeds. Try it for natural-light portraits. Window light, evening light and softly lit interiors are excellent situations for Portra 800. Use wide-aperture lenses when light gets very low. Combining ISO 800 film with lenses around f/2.8 or faster can make handheld shooting much easier. Meter carefully around bright lights. Windows, lamps and stage lighting can confuse camera meters, so prioritise correct exposure for the main subject. A tripod can still help at night. ISO 800 is fast, but very dark scenes may still require slower shutter speeds. Focus carefully. Medium-format negatives reveal focusing errors clearly, especially when shooting close portraits at wider apertures. Remember exposure count depends on your camera. A 120 roll produces different numbers of frames depending on whether your camera uses 6×4.5, 6×6, 6×7, 6×9 or another format. Use high-resolution scanning. The larger negative can produce excellent digital detail when professionally scanned. Store film cool and dry. Proper storage helps maintain colour consistency and film performance. Process using C-41. Standard colour negative development is required.
