Polaroid 600 Instant Colour Film

Polaroid 600 Instant Colour Film is the classic instant film designed for Polaroid 600-series cameras, producing the iconic square Polaroid photograph with its distinctive white border. Each exposure develops automatically after leaving the camera, giving you a real physical photograph without needing a printer, computer or film lab.

Rated at ASA 640, Polaroid 600 film is designed for everyday instant photography and works particularly well with cameras equipped with built-in flash. Each cartridge contains 8 or 16 photographs and includes its own battery, which powers compatible vintage Polaroid 600 cameras.

The finished print measures approximately 107 × 88mm, with an image area of around 79 × 79mm. Colour photographs usually develop fully in approximately 10–15 minutes, depending on temperature and shooting conditions.

Which Cameras Use Polaroid 600 Film?

Polaroid 600 film is designed primarily for vintage Polaroid 600-series instant cameras. Compatible cameras include many models such as: - Polaroid 600 OneStep - Polaroid OneStep Close-Up 600 - Polaroid Sun 600 - Polaroid Sun 660 - Polaroid Supercolor 600 - Polaroid Spirit 600 - Polaroid Impulse - Polaroid Impulse AF - Polaroid 635 - Polaroid 636 Closeup - Polaroid 640 - Polaroid 660 Autofocus - Polaroid SLR 680 - Polaroid SLR 690 - Other cameras specifically designed for Polaroid 600 film Polaroid 600 film can also be used in compatible modern Polaroid i-Type cameras, although the battery built into the 600 cartridge is not required by those cameras. Important: i-Type film is not interchangeable in the opposite direction. Vintage 600 cameras normally require the battery contained inside 600 film, so standard battery-free i-Type film should not be used in them.

Why Choose Polaroid 600 Instant Film?

Choose Polaroid 600 film if you want the unmistakable look and experience of traditional full-size Polaroid instant photography. The large square image gives you considerably more viewing area than smaller instant formats, making it especially enjoyable for portraits, groups, parties and creative photography. Its built-in battery is another important advantage. Vintage Polaroid 600 cameras receive their power directly from the film cartridge, so installing a fresh pack also provides the camera with a fresh power source. Polaroid 600 film is particularly appealing for photographers who want an authentic analogue result rather than a digitally printed instant photograph. Every image develops individually and can show subtle variations in colour, contrast and texture that contribute to its classic character.

Tips for Using Polaroid 600 Film

Make sure your camera takes 600 film. Look for “600” on the camera or check the exact model before purchasing. Use the flash indoors. Polaroid instant film needs plenty of light, and most 600-series cameras were designed to use flash regularly. Get reasonably close to your subject. Portraits usually look better when your main subject fills a good portion of the frame. Shield the photograph from strong light immediately after ejection. Protecting the developing image from bright sunlight during the first few minutes can help achieve more consistent results. Allow around 10–15 minutes for full development. The photograph will continue changing after the first image becomes visible. Do not shake the photograph. Modern Polaroid film develops chemically on its own and shaking will not make it develop faster. Do not bend or squeeze developing prints. Allow the chemicals inside the photograph to spread and develop naturally. Store unopened film cool and dry. Keep it away from excessive heat and direct sunlight. Refrigerated film should warm up before use. Leave the sealed pack at room temperature before opening to help prevent condensation. Check the expiry date. Fresher film generally gives more predictable colour and development. Remember the battery is inside the pack. If an older Polaroid 600 camera appears completely dead, installing a fresh 600 film cartridge may supply the power it needs. Use the correct format. Polaroid 600 film is different from Polaroid Go and SX-70 film, so always check camera compatibility before loading it.
