Kodak Professional T-MAX 100 35mm Black & White Film

Kodak Professional T-MAX 100 is a premium ISO 100 panchromatic black & white negative film designed for photographers who want exceptionally fine grain, outstanding sharpness and very high levels of detail.

Using Kodak’s T-GRAIN emulsion technology, T-MAX 100 produces a smooth, clean monochrome image with excellent resolving power and refined tonal separation. Its relatively slow ISO 100 speed makes it especially suitable for photography in good daylight, studio lighting or situations where a tripod can be used.

T-MAX 100 is an excellent choice for landscapes, architecture, portraits, studio photography, fine-art work, still life and detailed subjects where maximum image quality is important. Its extremely fine grain also makes it particularly suitable for high-resolution scanning and larger photographic enlargements.

It requires traditional black & white processing rather than C-41 development.

Questions about this product

Why Choose Kodak Professional T-MAX 100?

Choose Kodak T-MAX 100 when your priority is maximum detail, extremely fine grain and a clean professional black & white look. Compared with faster films such as ISO 400 stocks, T-MAX 100 produces a noticeably smoother grain structure and is capable of recording very fine detail. This makes it particularly attractive for photographers who intend to make larger prints or high-resolution scans. Its modern T-GRAIN emulsion gives photographs a refined appearance with crisp edges and smooth tonal transitions. It is especially well suited to careful, deliberate photography where you have control over exposure and lighting. T-MAX 100 is also an excellent choice for photographers who prefer a cleaner, more polished monochrome appearance rather than the grainier character of traditional cubic-grain films.

Shooting Tips for Kodak T-MAX 100

Start at ISO 100. Shooting at box speed is the best starting point for maximum detail, balanced contrast and predictable results. Use it in good light. Bright daylight, controlled studio lighting and well-lit scenes allow T-MAX 100 to perform at its best. Meter carefully. Slower films reward accurate exposure, particularly when you want to preserve both shadow and highlight detail. Avoid significant underexposure. Giving the film sufficient exposure helps maintain clean shadow detail and smooth tonal transitions. Use a tripod when needed. In overcast conditions, interiors or when using smaller apertures, shutter speeds may become too slow for comfortable handheld shooting. Try smaller apertures for maximum depth of field. T-MAX 100 works particularly well at f/8, f/11 or smaller for landscapes, architecture and still-life photography. Use filters creatively. Yellow, orange and red filters can change tonal relationships, darken blue skies and increase contrast. Remember to compensate for the filter factor. Keep development consistent. T-MAX films respond well to accurate processing, so careful temperature, timing and agitation help achieve repeatable results. Scan at high resolution. This film contains enough fine detail to benefit from high-quality scanning. Kodak T-MAX 100 is a conventional black & white film and requires traditional black & white development.
